sunset at the beach.. tobago.. attempt # 2. ( water colour ). Jan. 16, 2011.
I did try the painting again today. The scene 'in real' is so very beautiful. Some technical errors again... but learning daily, with lots of practice. Here is today's painting.
Impressive sundown scene. Lovely painting. There is also something about this sea at Mt Irvine that is so vast and impersonal as to be intimidating - the unbroken swells... water always moving!
Thanks Pat.. it is getting closer to what I was trying for. You are right about this sea at Mt. Irvine..everything else looks small and insignificant.. takes you out.. out.. out...
thanks Lisa! I like painting the sea, but as you said, it takes very close observation.. of colours, hues, and shapes.. guess that is the same for most painting, isn't it. and then to keep it flowing and spontaneous too.. oh.. painting has so many things to explore..I just love it for that!

ReplyDeleteYou can really feel the warmth of the sunset in this one. i find painting water is such a difficult thing - but i love all of your ocean scenes.
